I planned to post this as an inspirational thought:
A bar of iron costs $5.
Made into horseshoes, it’s worth $12.
Made into needles, it’s worth $3500.
Made into balance springs for watches, it’s worth $300,000.
Your own value is determined by what you are able to make of yourself.
The more I read it, the more I wanted to add a little more.
My value is priceless, just ask God.
Why did I like the above thought? Because it reminded me that what I make of myself depends on the time and effort I put into my life.
If a criminal is coming at me, and I’m able to use that $5 bar of iron to save my life, wouldn’t that change the value for me and those who love me?
Horseshoes may only be worth $12, but they meant being able to go riding in places where my horse’s hooves needed the protection. What kind of price do you put on that?
Needles were worth $3500, but I uses only a few of those needles to stitch a quilt, my own clothes, pillows, buttons, holes in clothes. When all is said and done, how much were those things worth?
As to the watch springs, I rarely wear a watch. So what is the value really?
I didn’t start out planning to do a meme debunking.
Life is priceless. God has given me the gift of life. My gift to God is making the most of what He’s given me. I often feel like I fail, but I keep taking the next step. What greater gift can anyone give than to keep trying to be a better person?
Love this!
