Change in Eating…finally!

What a joy to finally have something good to report about improving my eating habits. To say it’s been a struggle would be a vast understatement. However, I’m endeavoring to encourage myself that I’ve been taking one tiny step at a time. I may have done a lot of one step forward and two steps back, but that’s a cha-cha, so all this time I’ve been learning to dance.

A lot of advertising and recommendations from people I know introduced me to Built Bar products. The bars are protein bars from whey as opposed to the usual soy. I’m not saying it will work for everyone. My sister can’t use the bars because one of the minor ingredients is soy, a common ingredient in chocolate products. However, I’m able to cheat a little. I prefer the Built Bars over any chocolate I’ve ever eaten, which is saying something.

Interestingly enough, my craving for sweets has diminished, not vanished but much improved. What an indescribable blessing.

I also like their broth and vitamin powders. One of the free samples was their “Go” product which I had to give away as they’re high caffeine. Me and caffeine do not mix well, unless you like feeling like you have ants crawling around under your skin. Ha!

New eating routine:

Breakfast:

Mon-Fri: Shake: Carnation Instant Breakfast, milk, coconut milk, lavender, all-spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, tangelo zest, spinach, frozen bananas, cherries, cranberries, and blueberries and sometimes strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

Sat: Breakfast with my sister at P.Croissant

Sun: Fasting before church. I’m too nervous to eat. The “joy” of agoraphobia. Never give up; never give in.

Lunch/main meal/dinner: Pineapple slice, hamburger, chicken sandwich, pasta, coconut water with coconut milk and a splash of Torani flavoring, finishing with a half a donut and milk.

Snack: Built Bar – I actually like to cut them up and eat one or two whenever I’m tempted to grab something else.

Supper: Tangelo, pancakes with 1-2 tablespoons of syrup or microwaved apples with apple pie spice or Yehuda matzo with cheese or Rice Chex with raisins

I’ve been doing this for the past few weeks, and so far so good. We’ll see if it holds up. Only time will tell, but I’m hopeful.

  1. I will have to try the built bars. Thanks for the recommendation. And I didn’t know you had agoraphobia. Lucinda Basset has some really great books dealing with that.

    • Thanks! I’ve come a long way, but I know it’s something I need to keep managing.
