This Week in Beauty…

Proverbs 31:22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

I wondered about the tapestry. My first thought was a wallhanging but that doesn’t make sense…wait…she doesn’t make them for herself, for covering herself, but she makes them herself. Tapestry is a skill and only the finest homes, through the centuries, are able to afford them.

I learned not too long ago that purple was considered a luxury. Only the very rich could afford it. The same with silk.

How does this apply to me?

I need to learn to handle my finances wisely. However, I think this goes deeper. This is about using time and money wisely. As I learn to handle money better, by not spending money on the nickel and dime stuff, I’m able to save and buy nicer things that last longer. I’m also learning that sometimes the nickel and dime stuff is a better choice than the insanely expensive. The difference between buying well made and buying a name brand simply because it’s a name brand. I need to learn to recognize quality.

When I use my time wisely, I’m able to do things that make my life better. As I watch less television, I have more time for reading and spending time with friends and family. If I miss a show I wanted to see, it doesn’t annoy me anymore because I accept I’ve made a different choice with how to spend my time.

With the shutdown, I had to decide which businesses I wanted to support. It really helped me manage my money better. Instead of trying to spread my money around to as many as possible, I’ve focused on a few. In doing so, my finance management has improved,  a lot.

What isn’t mentioned but I think is implied is that I need to learn to let go of the things that no longer serve me. When a shirt wears out I need to let it go rather than continue to hold onto it because I don’t want to waste. Silly really.

I liked FlyLady’s perspective of only keeping what you really love and letting the other things bless someone else’s life. I’m learning.

    • Glad to have you along. 🙂 God bless. ❤

  2. A lot of wisdom in this post, Judy. One of the pieces of wisdom that hit me, was needing to learn to let go of the things that no longer serve… It is amazing the things I can hold onto when I really should let go. It is always important to reassess, and continue to learn 🙂

    • Not easy but necessary for healthy growth. 🙂
