This Week in Beauty…

My nails have looked great for the past week, pretty much the same length, which isn’t long. I’m okay with that.

My eating isn’t great, but I’ve only gained a couple of pounds. Not bad.

Last Thursday, I felt like God finally heard and answered my prayer regarding what to do about food and eating.


*I eat, mostly, to comfort myself, ease inner turmoil, stuff emotions, settle an unhappy digestive system.

That’s a lot. No wonder I eat so much.

*I spend more than a third of my budget on food.

If I didn’t spend so much money on food, I could spend it other places, charities I want to support, not to mention things like books and higher quality products, food, clothes, household, etc.

*If I stopped eating so much, I would lose weight.

I have an extensive wardrobe waiting for me, only a few sizes smaller.

My knees, ankles, and feet would feel better, with less stress on them.

*Of all the places I love to eat, which one would I miss the most?

Hands down: P.Croissant, so that’s where I’ll invest my eating out funds. Eating out with friends is different, then it’s taking into consideration what they like to eat, too.

What did I do to start making changes?

Thursday: Every time I want to eat out, I put money in an envelope to use toward the charities and speciality stores I want to support. To give myself a push, I placed my first ordered with Shaker Village in Pleasant Grove instead of ordering pizza.

Friday: Motivating Daily started my day with this quote by John C. Maxwell:

You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.

I understand the importance of routines.

I deleted a few food-related Wish List items and ordered a cast iron grilling skillet and a cast iron skillet. I also crossed off some pre-prepared foods from my shopping list.

Saturday: I bought and tried duck eggs. Delicious. Definitely a repeat.

Sunday/Monday: Lost days…headache

Tuesday: Shopped a little healthier, made dinner with zucchini, summer squash, mushroom, hamburger on sale, and flavored olive oil on sale. Ordered a plain cast iron skillet to replace the nonstick skillet that isn’t really nonstick, despite re-seasoning

Wednesday: I’m enjoying the veggies with flavored olive oil (basil and parmesan cheese) and mushrooms. Trying different meats, pre-made meatballs, today, heated in the microwave.

I’m looking forward to seeing how these changes work out.


  1. What a wonderful idea about putting the money you were going to eat out with. Brilliant 🙂 You will do well with this. Reading this it seems God is putting you on a good reasonable path. It seems very doable but not daunting.
