Suffering is a part of life, else how will we know joy? Beginning in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus suffered for the frailties, sins, mistakes, all wrongs of the world. He suffered the full measure so we might be spared the worst.
Jesus knew what was coming. He endeavored to prepare His disciples. However, what was about to happen had never occurred in history before, and would never occur again. A singular event planned before the beginning of time to change all of eternity. Because of one Man, the Son of God, all mankind was promised escape from death and hell, but who could believe such an event, one unlike any other? The followers of Jesus didn’t have any idea of what was coming. For them, Friday was the end. They couldn’t comprehend the power of knowing: Sunday is coming.
It can be so hard to really wrap my mind around the Atonement. Still, I’m so grateful for the Savior and the work He performed. I know that His sacrifice has truly blessed my life.
