My sister shared a story, over on her “We Are One” blog:

I’ve been going through a lot of changes. This is one: I’m learning to trust God. I thought I did before, but I’m realizing my trust was conditional. As long as everything was going well, I trusted God. It’s a childhood perception. I didn’t trust God to see me through the dark times… no, I didn’t trust God to protect me, because sometimes He didn’t. I had a child’s understanding of protection. It meant you were kept from being hurt.

Now, I know protection means something entirely different. Protection does not mean trouble free. It doesn’t mean unhurt. It doesn’t mean no bumps or bruises. Protection means I can’t be destroyed, erased, vaporized.

For a seed to become a plant, as intended, it must be buried in the dark, split open, and allow what’s inside to come out. I love roses, trees, green. Why would I deny myself the opportunity to grow to become more than I am in this moment?

“Give the battle to God and praise Him in the storm” wasn’t the be all end all; it was the beginning of a new and amazing adventure in learning to trust God.

  1. Excellent read! Thank you so much, Judy!
