The other sleep problem…

Yesterday’s post had already posted as I woke to nightmares. This is the other problem with sleeping more. The nightmares and dreams come back. For me, the dreams are the weird, disconnected, doesn’t mean much of anything to me kind. I’m able to recognize my brain working through the recent activities. I don’t mind. Weird is fine with me.

The more I catch up on sleep the more likely I am to have nightmares. My nightmares aren’t as bad as they used to be, when I was growing up. Those were terrifying. The nightmares I have now are more wearing. I wake up tired because I was so busy in my “dreams.”

Despite that, I’m going to keep working on sleeping better. The avoidance pattern only works as long as I’m avoiding. Avoiding takes so much time, effort, and energy. Time to face the problem. Someday, the nightmares will quiet. I look forward to that day.

  1. Lol….I’m up reading your blog in the middle of the night because of insomnia! We need some heavy doses of melatonin, Judy!

    • Good morning! It’s just after 3 AM here. 😀 I’m waiting for my room to cool down. It or I get toasty, which wakes me. The A/C kicks in, and the room cools down so I can sleep again. I’ve never tried melatonin, though I have thought about it. 🙂 Hope you’re sleeping now.

      • Wired up like a kitten on catnip!

        • LOL! Oh, dear. Hope tonight is better. 🙂

  2. After my daughters wedding at our house last Saturday I was so tired I slept the sleep of the dead and had some bizarre dreams. Not nightmares as they were not unpleasant just really, really weird. I hope you will have more peaceful sleep soon or that the nightmares will just be dreams.

    • 🙂 Thank you kindly.

  3. Yup, I recognize this problem. Going to keep trying.

    • Go you!
