Taking a day off…

Yesterday, my sister and I spent the day at the local Renaissance Fair. My sister took her camera. I wore a peasant costume, with a black cloak. I always dress up. It’s fun. It was cold and windy. We had a great time.

We stopped at Fellowship Foundry, which creates pewter items. I have a Celtic Knot pendent, bookmark, and today added a Tree of Life pendent.

We always attend Tartanic’s performance first. It’s bagpipes and drums and fun. Ruth sat on the grass and took pictures close up. I sat further back on a bench. It’s been a long time since I last sat on the ground. We both enjoyed the music. They put out baskets to collect tips. We always drop in a dollar or two. I save my singles all year so I’m ready for the shows.

We wandered further along to where Cast in Bronze performs. It’s a carillon (4,000 lb instrument consisting of varying sizes of bells) paired with pre-recorded music. It’s amazing. We decided to hang out for three of the five performances. I couldn’t sit any longer than that.

Between shows, we wandered a bit and ate lunch, consisting of crepes. My sister had the chocolate raspberry crepe and I had the veggie, with mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. Delicious. Last “errand” was to have my staff oiled. I purchased it from Staffs by Gust about fifteen years ago. The staff is great for helping me wander around the fair. It helps me stand straight and takes a little stress off my bad knee and ankle.

Back to Cast in Bronz, Frank played Hallelujah from his knew “Hallelujah” album in all three shows. In the first show, he also played “Phantom of the Opera.” In his second show, he also played “O Fortuna.” In the third show, he played “Carol of the Bells,” “Phantom of the Opera,” and “O Fortuna.” Awesome!

The wind rarely let up. During the last Cast in Bronz number, it started to sprinkle. Ruth and I had already agreed to head home because I was growing increasing uncomfortable. We headed to the parking lot, and rain gradually increased. We no more slid into the car, and the sky opened up to pouring rain. We laughed. We were home about 45 minutes later, and I was still wet. Two hours later, my cloak was still wet! We had fun!

This meme was posted on social media. I thought it apropos for the event.
