Better Late Than Never

Motivating Daily shared a quote I wish I’d learned and incorporated into my life a lot sooner.

https://motivatingdaily.com/2016/10/19/make-decisions/

Don’t settle. Don’t finish bad books. If you don’t like the menu, leave the restaurant. If you’re not on the right path, get off.

Chris Brogan

I’ve finished far too many books I didn’t enjoy. I’ve eaten far too much food I didn’t like. I’ve followed far too many paths far too long before I allowed myself to “quit.”

Therein lay the problem: I didn’t want to be a quitter. I didn’t understand that sometimes quitting is simply making a different choice.

I’m not as pleased with my new computer as I was with my old. I know I can’t go back. The technology has changed too much. However, I traded out the new mouse I really didn’t like for my old mouse. The new technology doesn’t allow me to do as much with it, but it’s better than the brand new mouse. I prefer a trackball.

Perseverance is good and healthy. Finishing simply to say I finished is prideful. I’m learning to remind myself that I could be doing something better. There is only so much time in any given day. Once it’s gone, it never comes back. If I quit something that isn’t enriching me or someone else, I’m making a good and healthy choice.

  1. sometimes quitting is simply making a different choice – very powerful reframing tool, thanks
