Word count for yesterday, first: 3,000 Woohoo!
For fun, it’s Bilbo and Frodo Baggins’ birthday. Those who love The Lord of the Rings as I do will understand.
Odd side note: I don’t refer to LOTR very often in any of my books. The copyright held by the Tolkien estate is extremely broad and strict. There are those who complain, and yet I’ve also seen it in action. Very cool.
After the last LOTR movie came out, the group running the Fan Club boards shut it down, releasing the domain name. One morning, I checked it and in the place of the family-friendly boards was a pornography site. One of our group contacted the Tolkien estate, and the site was gone by the afternoon. Impressive. The power of one. It was Gandalf, Tolkien’s wizened wizard who said something to the effect that the great deeds of the world are done by the small hands who must. LOTR is one of my touchstones.
Another side note: German chocolate cake is my favorite. I enjoyed writing this novella. I want that joy back.
