Adding a new quote…

Thanks, Kara! I appreciate you sharing this quote:

“If it’s dead, don’t go digging it up every five minutes to check if there’s a pulse. It’s dead, walk away.” ~ Richard Templar

As I read her post I realized that a decision was made, a decision every ACoN needs to make sooner or later. I’ve made it, for the most part.

I will no longer walk on eggshells.

This does not give me free rein to say whatever I want when I want. It does mean I accept I’m a reasonably nice person, however imperfect, and what I usually say or do isn’t so objectionable it deserves a verbal lashing.

Even as intense as I am, as opinionated as I am, nothing I say will ever break a single eggshell, ever. No matter what the Ns accuse me of doing or saying.

  1. That is great quote! Amen and I like how you state it isn’t about having free rein it is about saying what we feel and think. xx

    • Thanks TR

  2. Wow. An answer to a prayer. Thanks

    • You’re welcome, Ruth.

  3. You’re welcome Judy 🙂 I think we agonise constantly over saying the wrong thing, or saying something that will bring on a verbal lashing, when actually nothing we’d say would warrant that, anyway. Their responses are more to do with them and their issues, than with anything we might have said or done. xx

    • Exactly! Thanks for your timely post.

  4. This reminds me of the saying: when you are thirsty, don’t go to an empty well for a drink

    • More pleasant variation on a theme. 🙂

      • It actually helps me to mentally see my mother as the empty well.

        • Oh! You’re right.
