Q and A is back…

There are some spam comments that I keep in my folder, for laughs.

Then there was this one, and I wasn’t quite sure what to do:

Great blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any recommendations? Thanks!

It seems legitimate enough, but the website attached made me wonder. I worried that the spam filter had made a mistake. But I have had other new posts come through without going to the spam filter. So, if this wasn’t spam, I’m sorry I didn’t accept it.

Here’s the answer: I have lots of tips and hints for aspiring writers. Read what you want to write. WRITE. Join a group of writers. They say that you have to write a million words before anything good starts to show up on the page. Yes, I’ve written more than a million words. I have one story that’s a half a million words by itself. A project of love.

Building a website: Start free. I’ve worked with three different platforms, and they all of their pluses and minuses. Find the one that you like. And you can always change your mind later. WordPress has a paid option, by the way. The starter is free.

  1. I like the one where the comments like ❤ turns into a heart, 🙂 turns into a smiley face and 😉 turns into a winking smiley face. What can I say, I love graphics.
